Founded by Spanish immersion teacher and travel writer Daniela Pérez, Explora bookazine started in late 2020.  It was an idea that she had for years as she saw that her students did not have quality Spanish materials to use outside school, during breaks, and summer months to keep reinforcing the Spanish language skills necessary to maintain the language.

“Learning Spanish is an ongoing process and kids need to be able to use the language by reading, writing, listening, and also speaking.  Students work very hard during the school year.  When it comes to a second language if you ‘don’t use it, you lose it’”.

So she decided to put all her effort into creating a Spanish bookazine, Explora, for kids ages 7-12.

With a passion for original content and quality photography, we’ve built a highly engaged community of loyal readers on our website as well as with our bookazine.  In each bookazine, kids get to travel the world and learn from a specific theme.  We also invite kids to write for us and tell us their stories.  Together we learn, are curious, and build empathy as we understand and appreciate other cultures, while we learn Spanish.

Our diverse team members bring a unique knowledge of second language acquisition, understanding of cultures, and a richness of professional talents. We aim to create a bookazine that brings curiosity to life and enriches empathy in our kids for the world and its people.
